Pounded Location - 21 Wheaties, Walking Liberty Half, Merc, and Roosie...

Hello ALL!

At 9:30 AM in Connecticut it was... 46 degrees... and getting warmer... Weather man was calling for stong winds and 50-53ish for the afternoon....

Hmmm... I wasn't planning on going out, but hey... It's going back to being cold tonight... so time to get another hunt in...

I arrived about 10am at a site that I have not hunted in a good 18 months... It was moved to a secondary then tertiary site... but wait... I've hunted this spot 35+ times and have recovered 100+ wheaties and 30-40+ pieces of silver, a few gold rings, and a bunch of sterling... I started here with my XT70, then hammered it with the E-Trac... but the CTX 3030 hasn't been here... Last few visits din't yield much... a few wheaties and modern clad...

Its a bug site...8-10 acres... So I pick a spot and start gridding... My 2nd coin was a wheatie... and they started flowing pretty regular... 12/37 to 12/41 4-6" wheat wheat wheat...

I ended up with 21 Wheat pennies including 1917, 1918, 1925, 1930... and the rest were 40's - 50's...

I was in this site for 5 1/3 hours... and 2 1/2 hours in I got a 12/44 signal @ 4-5 inches... It did hit 12/45 once or twice... I was hoping for a silver dime, or at least a wheatie... but I figured that was a modern copper penny...

Out pops a 1935 D Walking Liberty half... I could not tell the angle on the coin because of how I dug around it... but it was a HUGE suprise and had to be on edge or close to get me that kind of signal...

Nice way to start the year out for my 1st silver coin...

30 minutes later I had a 11/44 12/44 signal @ 5"...

1939 Merc was face down in the hole...

I kept digging wheaties... and got one last silver... 1962 D Roosie...

There was some junk jewely in there... 79 total coins for the day and my left knee is aching right now...

Great start for you in the new year. Man those Walkers sure are a pretty coin. Nice Paul.

That is a great hunt, I love the Peace earring...... that brings back memories from the 70's

Bravo Paul - I've pulled a lot of great coins from places I've murdered with the E-Trac:thumbup:

Thank you GateKeeper... Many will argue that is is one is the best US coins ever designed... Right behind the $20 Gold St. Gaudens...

Doc1964 !! I've hit a few of my older hunting haunts and pull some nice finds (that I did not recover with my E-Trac)... I certainly did not think there was this much left behind... and I did not even hit 5% of this site yesterday... I need to get back there a bunch more and grid my tail off :)

super nice finds and I am glad you were able to get out. However, I can't figure out how in the world you were able to dig. Where I am located in CT the ground is frozen solid. :(

I was in Wethersfield today for 6+ hours digging... It was 22-26... and the Ground had a candy coating that was very thin up to 2 inches... The hunt above was along the shore line...

Pretty darn nice haul Paul. I was wandering around the forums (retired & still healing for another 3 or 4 weeks) nothing else to do today an figured I'd find you on the CTX. Also been
been watching ya on the fb/ytc site. You really do consistently pop up the nice stuff. Hope all is good 4 U. Catch up for a hunt together when it works out.
