pottery fragment

While detecting a sand bar in the Tennessee River near Savannah, TN, I found this pottery fragment. Any ideas as to the age or origin? Thanks.
 
boneykid is right... it looks to be woodland indian pottery. The Illinois river botton sites I surface hunted for relics is loaded with this type of fragments.
 
I agree, it does appear woodland. You guys had alot of Cherokees in your area. I have a nice pottery piece for there in that period.
