trying to post some pictures on an other forum and it came out distorted. pic,s. must be 600x800. what am I doing wrong?

posting pictures

The way I do it is I send myself pictures via Email and when it asks me what size do I want to send, I choose Medium. When I receive the pictures, I save them and they are ready to download and post.
I don't know what to say on the distortion, usually with digital photos, you have what you have when you took the picture.
