I am posting this pic again in hopes of finding out what it is, any ideas? its about 10 inches long and has a letter "N" on one end and a letter "P" on the other end

Hi It may be a resistor ring for a dew remover for a telescope. It's connected to 12 VDC and provides a slight warming at the main lens to prevent dew on the main lens of a refractor. The resistors are inside of the squares and connected in series for it's length.
