Posted this question on the G2 forum too. Any Sov. Users compare it to the G2 in iron?

These are known as the top detectors in iron in many circles. Anyone have experience swinging both that can give their thoughts? I know the G2 ihas a faster recovery, but does the Sov. Outshine it with its iron masking ability?
Thanks in advance

I used a Goldbug Pro the G2s cousin with the five inch coil last season a couple of times. My limited time impression light, good depth, separation not many tones.I found a couple of wheat's in a well worked park. The Goldbug Pro is a nice detector, but still prefer my Sovereign and Explorer for serious park work.HH Ron

If you're going to hunt an old Site full of iron then hands down the G2 is the detector you need, for deep park turf silver or ocean wet sand the Sovereign will be the better detector.

Both fare better than the other for certain types of hunting, hope this helps.

Hi Silverman,

The Sovereign doesn't do well in sites with allot of iron, iron masking effects the Sovereign's ability to detect conducive targets underneath iron.

However, trashy parks with aluminum, pull tabs, bottle caps and such the Sovereign does well for some reason. This type of masking does not effect the Sovereign it'll still see a silver dime under that blanket of trash, The Sovereign is one heck of a detector.

The G2 is the opposite in iron, iron masking has little effect with the G2.

Good luck and good hunting,
Paul (Ca)
