Post some of your best finds with the Vaquero

Would like to see some finds that people have made with their Vaqueros. I don't see too many and I really dont have any to show for myself, but thats just due to limited use. I just want a reason not to want to switch to the Outlaw

I bought mine in December and have made a good number number of nice and valuable finds.

Lots of clad, of course, some silver jewelry and other cool stuff...and these...

When it comes to metal detecting, getting the Outlaw was one of the best decisions I ever made. The Outlaw can't really be compared the Vaquero. Outside the matching depth - except in the red zone - the Outlaw is more versatile, not just with the extra coils, but the disc and the GB on the Outlaw is so fine, the Super Pin Pointing feature, being able to easily switch to All Metal, Motion or Non Motion with out changing disc settings, and on, and on. I actually like the tone on the Outlaw a little more as well, not as muddy. If you can have 'em both - get them both. Just my feedback. I can grab either one and hunt with total confidence.

Mike 5853 makes what I feel is a good point. It's good to be familiar with each detector you own to the point that you feel comfortable and confident with whichever one is in your hands at the time.

1786 New Jersey Copper - my oldest coin - found with my Vaquero next to a soccer field, only 5" down.

Hey, the Vaquero can get the job done, but if I'm going to a trashy park, I'm grabbing the Outlaw.:detecting:

Me too buddy, me too!

I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place, but I thought I would post where successful Vaquero users post. I have had a Vaquero for about 6 months and really enjoy it. At present I hunt mostly parks and schools where this is a lot of trash, doing mainly coin shooting and jewelry hunting. Have not found any relics, silver coins, I have a few questions:
1. I rarely hunt in all metal mode. Do most people hunt in all metal or discriminate in the above mentioned areas?
2. I rarely use headphones. As the areas are not very noisy when I hunt, is there an advantage to headphones in DISC mode?
3. Can you discriminate out pull tabs and cans without losing gold?

Thanks
Homebre

I dont hunt in all metal, nor do I use Headphones.I usually have the disc set somewhere between iron and nickle. Most of my finds have been made in a wooded area of a park where other detectorist evidently avoid. Im not an expert with a metal detector, just been lucky enough to find some spots that produce.

No 1 most people hunt in discriminate mode in parks.
No 2 Yes, the cells in your detector last longer and you can hear the faint deep signals better.
No 3 No, you can disc out some of them but not all of them.
I hope that this helps Les in the UK

Thanks much. There was one other question I forgot to ask. Is the threshold just for getting a nice even tone in all metal and for ground balancing, or is there another use for it?
THX

Like super tuning, ground balancing and an aid to get a little extra depth in all metal or when you are changing to a different sized search coil.
But to most people it is used to set the detector to the surrounding soil mineralisation and to run the detector to its full potential.
I think that all the answers on this question will be different and i will say that they will all be right in one way or another.
I hope that some of the others answer this question so that you can see what they use threshold for. Les in the UK

Yes. With the thresh hold set at say 12:00 you will get a diminishing tone as your targets get deeper, set it too low and you'll loose depth. I set my thresh hold to 3:00 to maintain a consistent volume level to maximum depth. Just a personal preference..
