Post Processing Software.......

Curious as to what everyone uses and why? I have so many and would like to narrow it down to just on or two but I find myself using all of them at one time or another, just depending on the photo or look I'm trying to get. In no particular order: Apple-Aperture / and the NEW Apple-Photos (haven't tried yet) / Have Apple-iPhoto but never use that one it's a watered down version of Aperture. Adobe: Lightroom 5 and Photoshop Elements 13 / Nikon: Capture NX2 and View NX2. Probably the most interesting one is a Beta that I downloaded to try out. It is called Affinity Photo. It has some power to it and is a free download at this time and has some nice features. But since it is a BETA, there is no documentation....I'm just winging it when I open it up and it eats my lunch. It has almost gotten to the point of breaking out an adult beverage before I even open the app. Hope I haven't rambled on too much here. Just curious as to what everyone was using and to share ideas. I'm trying to limit myself to Lightroom and photoshop.
Thanks for any input gang!! I'm looking forward to some better ideas.......

I mostly use an older version of photoshop cs4 but often shoot raw and first have to adjust somewhat and convert to jpeg using image data converter. Kelley sent a great program to me called FastStone Image V which is free and nice to use and I'm experimenting with it now.

Perfect Photo Suite 9, and FastStone Image Viewer. I had been using Corel PaintShop Pro X4, but just recently updated to the Pro X7 software. This is a good editing program, fairly easy to use as per se.

I have also recently purchased the Perfect Photo Suite 9 program and must admit it has been one frustrating experience. I have yet to get it up and running because my old computer does not meet the operating requirements. I have just added memory to the computer, and now I evidently need to update my color card. What was to be joyful has turned into total frustration, my fault for not paying attention to what was required to operate this software.

A friend sent me a link to a free basic photo editing program, FastStone Image Viewer and I really like it. It is fun to use and you can use it to produce a good picture. Below is a test picture produced using a unedited picture of a Long Horn steer that I took about two years ago. I did the normal editing, cropped the picture, resized it, and added a border using this free software. It is a keeper in my opinion.

If your computer has the free space on your hard drive, I see nothing wrong with having several photo editing programs on your computer, fun to play with them when you are bored with nothing constructive to do around the home...Just my humble opinion. Kelley (Ttxas) :)

Have never heard of the FastStone Image software....will have to give it a shot....just add to my arsenal. Maybe it'll be the one to break me away from all these others.

All I use is "Microsoft Picture It" Just to crop and adjust file size. I have never made any adjustments,

I use the subscription version of Adobe products, so I have access to Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge and Camera RAW. In addition I have the NIK collection and Tony Kuyper's Luminosity Masks as plug-ins for Photoshop.

Hello.
Also never heard about FastStone Viewer and will give it a shot, too.
As the main tool PhotoImpact X is used here.
This has some really good filters and you can use photoshop filters, too.
Very easy to handle and the settings are self-explanatory (mostly).

PhotoPlus X5 and PaintShop Pro X are also installed. What I really like on PhotoPlus X5 is the enclosed organizer.
And I love to manipulate images with JPG-Illuminator.

There are always new revisions available, but new dosn't mean better (same as on detectors, huh).
Many manufacturer have 30 day trials you can download. That is a good way to test the new rewiew.
And if there is a software that can do better than PhotoImpact X on a budget then I'll get it for sure.

Operating system is Win7 64-bit. Ram = 3GB, CPU = Intel Dual Core E5400 and graphics is a GeForce GT 630.
