Post Beach Blizzard finds with my GT. Colonial Copper

New member
I had these soaking in olive oil since the 14th. From what I can identify I think the copper is a King William 1600-1700's. I could be wrong but some King Williams have been found near this spot before. Not sure about the medal. It is pretty heavy for it's size so I think it was not a novelty but really worn and lost. Tried a new spot this time and got tons of tabs can slaw and clad. A novelty ring and the usual digs. To lazy to clean up and photo tabs and clad.

definatly looks like a copper of some sort..... just curious if you can count the stars on that medal-might give you an idea of when it was made....nice finds... the gt loves those coppers....

A friend on NH Bob's forum found on like it and dated it in the 1600's.

Jason not sure where you hunted but this was found after a hurricane November 2011 on a NJ beach Its a Charles III 1673 Not too common a beach find. But we do regularly find King Georges on NJ beaches. Not sure this can help you identfy your find.

nice find Jason!

Nice find there Jason. The beach does a number on coins and especially hard on coppers.

I like your signature statement about walking away from a target and thinking about it, Ive found that myself:thumbup:

Great find there! Ain't found one of those yet, and I love the medal too. Would be interested in seeing a picture of that cleaned up and it's history. Who knows, some of those medals have some good money value too...

One of my favorite coins is large cents. The one I dug last summer was the first in a couple of years since the last one I've dug. Still need to look through my large cents and see if I can date ranges by style on ones lacking dates, since one of them might be my oldest coin then. Far as I know for sure right now my old coin is an 1835 bust dime, but I bet a few of my large cents probably pre-date that coin. Always fun to try to shoot for beating your oldest coin date, which is why I think it's kind'a odd I ain't looked hard at my large cents yet to see what I might have there date wise...
