Post a pic of your best condition dug flying eagle, indian, wheat, or nickel? Here's mine

Most of the coins I dig are corroded green slugs but every once in a blue moon I dig a good one like the 1888 the other day. This 1859 is by far my best though. The only spot of green on this 1859 is just below the bow on the reverse.

This came from a well hidden site in some woods where for some reason the soil seems to perfectly preserve the coins, very unusual in our area. I took my buddy Ed (aka the RB coin vacuum) to this site and he dug a flying eagle cent and a shield nickel that was at least this good if not better. I wish he would post a pic of them, they were incredible.

Happy new yr to ya too ;)

Charles, makes you wonder, I once found a Buffalo nickel that was 4 inches down, but it looked like it just came out of a coin collectors album. The more I thought about it, I bet it did, probably a kid took it out to spend and lost it and I happened to find it rather quickly before the elements got to it.......

Great condition, shame most NY grounders aren't like that. :)

I have the same problem with my soil. I found this one last spring about 3" deep in sandy soil under the leaves.

Happy Holidays everybody

I received a few old coins in change at the local stores but I doubt this 1859 and the others were fresh drops, too deep and scattered along different trails over too wide an area. We also dug civil war tokens and quite a few old buttons at this site.
