Just 5 minutes after that Nitro heart stopper....
It may not be the biggest or the prettiest, but, after detecting the last 6 outings with our local Obi-Wan Kenobi and none of us getting gold - this was a great first gold ring find - marked 14K.
And Mr. Kenobi had passed right by the spot.
Everyone here uses an Excal. He has constantly badgered to me to stop hunting in Pinpoint (keep it in DISC and stop switching the knob) and to set my SENS to Auto (the way he hunts).
Now I cannot argue with the results he has amassed over the last 20 years but he passed right by this small ring which was 2 scoops down in the wet sand at low tide.
It was a faint signal in Pinpoint at 1pm SENS. When I switched to DISC I heard that rich sound of a nickle as I had never before heard the Excal singing that sweet song of gold.
PS - that's a jumbo size paper clip

I wouldn't try to put your friend wise about the sensitivity setting.
Let him keep on hunting in auto ... just be sure to cover the same areas he did cause he is gonna leave something good for ya.

Sometimes old dogs just wont learn new tricks ... and you are just gonna annoy them with new ideas.

I hunt with a fella that has the worst coil control ... 6 inches off the ground at center swing and 12" off the ground at the ends.
Have pointed that out to him three times ... but ever again.
I will just go back and cover the beach he did to find the deeper targets he cant hear.
