Possibly my last hunt of the year, Old lock, injuns, wheats

Possibly my last hunt of the season, the ground is starting to freeze, and the temps keep dropping!

These are my finds from a couple field hunts this week, all the coins came from an old church site I pounded to death this spring, I decided to try it again after the crops were off one more time. Got some crusty injuns, and some wheats. The injuns were so crusty I had to tumble them.

After that site I could not find an old coin to save my life. Got a presidential token, thimble, aluminum token I can barely read. Clay marble, a nice blue marble. Odds and ends, harmonica reed, shotgun caps etc....the find of the weekend for me was the large brass lock, that made my day to get that. I have wanted to find one for a long time. Sure made me smile to dig that one up! The lock has some marking along top but I cannot make it out, any help would be appreciated!

Nice Lock! What's that say: Homer & Co Newark NJ ? I found one old nice looking lock that said 6 Lever Lock Co. no location on it if I remember right.

Thatis a nice lock. You know I have never found a thimble yet .

Them are some nice finds you got there Terry. I really like that lock and the marble's.

If you don't get the snow that they are forecasting, you can still hit the grass lawns. They don't freeze up as fast as the open fields do.

Congrats on the sweet lock! It looks very old for sure! I also like the thimble, nice hunting, Beale.

Congrats on the nice R.R. lock nice hunt. Keep the faith you never know, might get a warm front and melt all that ice and snow.

If you were to hunt all winter there would not be anything left for the rest of us LOL! Have a nice winter.
PS; I'm in the same boat you're in, my yard is covered in light snow and winter here hasn't really started yet. But lake effect snow will be coming soon.

Nice finds! Do you (or anyone else) have any idea what the round, slotted thing is that is below and to the right of the thimble in the first pic? I found one just like it a couple of days ago in the vicinity of an old lock too....

I have found them several times at old farms? are u positive it is from an umbrella? That would be odd, because some sites I have found several of them, why would I find several at one site, I find it hard to believe someone had several umbrellas, and this part is dropped around their yard.

I think he may be right looks like a part from an umbrella. Take one apart and it looks like the piece that holds the metal stays or bows in place.

Hey Terry, maybe the guy that use to live there was a umbella salesman and was not very good at it so he had a bunch of them laying around, lol. Just kidding. I've found a few of those things in the past and I have no clue what they are.

First of all, Great Finds!!! Those pieces ARE parts of a "parasol", or umbrella. I find identical ones at Civil War campsites. The harmonica reed plate and the RR lock are also indicative of a CW camp. If I had found those on a hunt, I would get a little excited that a camp was near there. Cavalry troops seemed to carry those parasols to use for shelters at camp. You have a good place to dig there!!!!
