Has anyone experienced this ? while hunting the threshold totally is gone. Bumped up the threshold volume, nothing. Had to turn off the e-trac and then back on and all was ok. This has happened twice.. any ideas. was told to re-boot and going to try that..... But will a while befor hunting again due to weather... thanks

I don't have much, but did you rule out an iron infested ground?

Also make sure to clean out your coil and coil cover real good every other hunt or so.

THANKS, BUT HAD ON THE JOEY COIL ,NO COIL COVER AND LIFTED THE E-TRAC UP IN THE AIR... STILL NO THRESLHOLD UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON...

How high were you running the sensitivity & were you in auto or manual? If the sensitivity is too high in manual the threshold will disappear.

I suspect there are some bugs in the firmware just like there are on my Apple iPhone - fortunately with the iPhone you can download the latest software (and few are more paranoid than Apple) - bad move on Minelab's part to take this feature out of the E-Trac...minimally a user replaceable chip would have gone a long way! Sounds like some future ugrades will be in order.

I've had that happen twice while detecting when it was cold out. The background tone stopped and the screen stopped working. The technical specs say operation range is from 32 to 122 degrees. I found that everything worked great until I went out and the temperature was 28 degrees. The E-Trac refused to work right. It got very slow and then nothing. The screen froze and no tone at all. Never had that problem with warmer temps.

I guess the engineers know what they are talking about when they tell you 32 to 122 degrees. I no longer detect in cold weather. Florida here I come !!!!!

How cold was it when you were detecting?
