Possible Native American artifact? Junk?

I found this last night hunting in Norman, Oklahoma. It appears to be copper, is slightly larger than a half dollar, but much thinner. I have no idea what the design is, but if you look at the detail in the piece, you can see that the design was hand-scrawled on there with some type of tool. It reminds me of a "cave painting."

Anyone have any ideas? Do I take this by the Historical Museum and show it to the curator, or will they laugh me out of the place?! :)

Thanks,

Steve

I am not an authority on native American artifacts but I think you have something there. I would not be afraid of being laughed at by the curator. If they have a display at the museum you could look it over first. Let us know what you find out.

Cant help with the design but looks real to me.
Nice find Steve!!

Thanks, godigit!

fyrffytr1 -- Instead of the curator of the museum, I decided on the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey; I sent the head of the place an email with picture attached; I hope to hear from him and if not I'll drop by with it and see what he says. I'll post what I find out.
