Possible Militia button

Found in Massachusetts at a site with many other Colonial finds. I also found an 1803 and a 1805 Draped Bust Large Cent as well on the same hunt.

Just wondering if it is an average Colonial button or possibly something more.
Thanks in advance

A colonial button. I found 2 last summer about that size. Brass with some residual gold gilt on it. Flat with a chiseled or punched design. Before 1800 likely.

Nice find, more gold on yours than mine. The larger one is an impressive 1 & 3/8" in diameter. The coin is a quarter worth 24 or 26 cents depending on the time of the day.

Always fun to touch something over 200 years old. I found these two coins about 5 ft apart in an old settlement which was abandoned in the early 1900s. I found a 70cal musket ball at the same site and an old shoe buckle.
