Possible In-Sight Meter/SEF Coil Compatibility Fix

Critterhunter

New member
As some of you know the In-Sight meter (it's built into the speaker hole on the control box) doesn't work with SEF coils. A while back I got this Email with a possible fix...

Critter, Joe sent me a posssible solution the the SEF not working with his meter mod, but he doesn't have a SEF to prove it. Maybe, you could pass this on to someone who has the mod and a SEF to see if it really works.

I have been following some of the recent online posts about the In-Sight meter and the SEF coil incompatibility issue.

I may have a solution, but someone is going to have to try it to see if it works, as I do not have an SEF coil to try it myself. If it works, you must also confirm that all other Sovereign coils are not affected by this change. I do not believe that they will be.

Based on my In-Sight display circuitry design and the display's configuration options I am making an educated guess as to why the SEF coils do not work with the In-Sight. There should be no harm nor danger to the SEF coil or the Sovereign in trying this. The In-Sight display will either work or not (with the SEF) once this is attempted. If it does not work, simply leave everything as it was prior to attempting this "modification".

Attached are a couple of jpg files for reference.

What I would like for you, or someone else, to try is to place a jumper across the display pins marked as "J2" on the back side of the In-Sight display. These jumpers (see jpg) just slide onto the pins and are the same type as used on many computer plug-in cards and motherboards.

That's all that needs to be done. I hope this works for you. Please let me know if it does.

Regards,

Joe Patrick

I have the attachment picture too, I can send that to whoever.
