Possible connecting rod? For what?

Found what appears to be a connecting rod for something. I think it is made out of brass. It is 3 inches long and is 1 1/2 inches wide at the base. Anyone got any idea what this is from?

It looks like some sort of holder, the split part looks threaded. That part would go on a shaft or stand, when you get it where you need it you would tighten the bolt/thumb screw. And the other end could hold a lamp or something. It also could be a machine setting/locking lever. Again set in place tighten and the other end would stop/change what the machine would. Well those are my thoughts. Jack

Its a connecting rod for something. Modern engine connecting rods are made out of steel not brass. But who knows what early engine connecting rods were made of. Brass could some what be a decent bearing material. Maybe from some sort of machinery like an old pedal powered sewing machine.
