Possible coil problem W/new BHID300,lacks depth

Hello all,
Need your help from you guys that use the BHID300.Ive used the machine for several hours now and I think something just isnt right. The coil depth is lacking. I did the ground balance and then I did the super tune from R-n-R. No difference in depth. Threshold never changed to a shrill after I opened up sensitivity all the way;just alot of falsing with sensitivity wide open.Ive done just the normal ground balance from booklet and depth is poor. I can not run sensitivity wide open here in the midwest lakes;too much falsing.I can set the sensitivity dial to where it is about half way between the preset and wide open with no falsing.I hunted with my buddies this past weekend. They are using major name brand water detectors with the 10 inch coils.They would get a faint signal and then call me over.They shut their machine off and then I tried to pick up the target.Not even a squeak from the BHID300.Was a small copper pounding about 7 inches deep in water.
When I did the air tests the BHID was blown away by the other big boys. I can not detect a silver quarter deeper than 6 and a half inches.And all metal is not that much better; barely 8 inches. A silver dime is only 6 inches in descrim on the air test.Small ladies 10K ring only 4 and a half inches and in all metal 6 inches.It also seems like The faster I move the target across the coil the better.In the water you just cant whip it.Its almost like only half the coil is working if thats possible.The way I see it I should be able to pick up targets deeper over the smaller coils my buddies were using.Anyone else have air tests to share that they did with there BHID300? Thanks guys for any thoughts you might have.Otherwise maybe I should call Whites. Steve

If I went by air testing with my 9.5 inch coil I would have chucked it in the dumpster! Air test is horriable esp. in the disc mode. These machines are critical of the adjustment of the sens,ground and the threshold. When tuned in correctly they rock!

IF YOUR NOT GETTING BETTER RESULTS.....I WOULD THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM....WHERE ARE YOU RUNNING YOUR THRESH HOLD AT?? IF YOU GET ANY REPETEABLE BREAK IN IT AS YOU SWING ITS MOST TIMES A VERY DEEP GOOD TARGET.....I AM GETTING VERY GOOD DEPTH IN A LAKE LOADED WITH BURNT COAL SLAG AND IRON....I GOT A 1951 SILVER ROSIE AT FOOT TODAY!!!

AND IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BEACH HUNTER......WHITES WILL ALWAYS MAKE GOOD ON IT!!! THERE IS NO OTHER COMPANY THAT TAKES BETTER CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS!!

I have two Whites m`self so I respect the company.

With this in mind even more was I shoked when read a "Field Test Report" on DHID300 or something like this about a week ago including regarding customer service. Very professional and very convincing.
HH!!

Thanks for your suggestions on the settings. For the record I am by no means new to ground balancing and threshold procedures. I have used many of these type of detectors before with great results when set properly. And knowing when to amp up the gain in certain circumstances and at the same time backing off on it if in a hot area.Realizing one looses depth if gain is set too high.I set the threshold on the BHID at about 1:00 o clock position as you are operating detector.To where I just barely hear tone. Sometimes when I hit reset the threshold spot will change and I have to readjust.I certainly will try anything and give it a fair shake. I know air tests have their place. I get a little concerned though when my other water machines w/ their smaller coils pull quarter sized targets out of the real world matrix just as deep as they air test around 10 -12 inches.And the BHID-300 couldnt raise a peep from a copper artifact that was found with another competitors brand with a smaller coil. I know Minelabs hate air underneath their coil and therefore air test badly. And maybe the BHID300 is the same way. Will see. I will do more target cross checking with my hunting buddies next week and will let yous know the resuts.If I need I will talk with Todd at Whites and have no doubt they will make it right. Thanks guys, Steve;
