Possible Civil War Cannon Ball

New member
Today i found what may be a Civil War cannon ball. I found it at an old farm house site. It measures about 2 inches in diameter and weighs around 1 pound. Don't know what else it could be other than a rusty ball of iron. I also found a 1947 dime, my 4th silver coin of the year. No picture of it, the farm field chemicals were not kind to it, as it is mostly black.

Almost seems to be of the sort used on old warships. You know the miniature cannons positioned on the gunwales? Certainly I'm no expert, but I thought that sort of weapon to be a pre-revolutionary means of taking the offense! Look into it, of course, but you just might have found a relic of more historical significance than you thought!
