Possible bakelite, detailed screw cap

Possible bakelite, detailed screw cap. I did a bakelite test on it using scrub free shower cleaner and it is only somewhat indicative to be bakelite. It puts off faint yellow coloring when cleaned. It was attached to a tin or aluminum tube which the threads were all that remained. Picture shows 3 wheaties found the same day but I left them in the pic for size reference.

What I'm trying to figure out is what the tube would have had in it or the company that made this cap. The design is pretty detailed, they don't make plactic screw caps like this any more! It has 13 stars and a face of either a moon or sun?

Awesome, You nailed it! Thanks for the positive ID. :) I had to do some research on p&g and was concerned about the rumors of the companies connection with satanism. In short, it turns out that is a widespread lie and rumor going back at least as far as the early 1980's. I was almost sold on the rumor until I saw were each of the details were proven to be completely fabricated lies. http://www.bibleistrue.com/roarlion/nlpg0999.htm

Anyway, I'm happy to add this cool piece to my collection of finds without losing any sleep. :)

The company used a design like this back around 1860 and they removed the curly hairs on the beard in 1991 due to the widespread rumors saying they looked like 666( I don't even see it)......

A very good read about several companies exonerated of false rumors, including P&G. http://www.businesspundit.com/5-corporations-damaged-by-false-accusations/
