My 6 year old wanted to go out metal detecting this morning (Don't have to twist my arm...lol). So off we went for a couple hours of digging fun. What I usually do after I've dug up a target is let my son search the dirt pile with my Vibra Probe. He loves to help out . I about fell over when he pulled it out of the dirt and said, "Dad look at the cool eagle on it." That buckle woke me up quicker than the 7-11 coffee I just finished off. I always have fun hunting with my little buddy

Great find Vern! My son also goes detecting with me (I've also called him little buddy for 12+ yrs now)! He started hunting with me when he could 1st walk, but now, he uses my spare detector for hunting himself! I bought him a small toy like K-Mart special when he was 4 or 5, then, a cheapie on ebay when he was like 8 and since 9 or so, he's been using a 'good' detector!
He's almost 13 now and not into it as much a old dad here but, once in a while I can get him out for a dig!

This is my first buckle and I was wondering if its best to wash it off and leave it as is or break out the metal polish and work the shine back into it.

Hi Vern, very nice buckle. As far as shineing it 99.5% relic hunters would say NO.The patina build up on it take years to form, its beautiful as it is.Happy Hunting,Jerry

Thanks for the info. I'll leave it as is
