a recent extended weekend stay in the delaware ,maryland beach area reminded me of an event that happened many many years ago long before i ever picked up a detector....... i was a teenager on summer vaction ... the family--parents,brothers and wives and girlfriends decided to take a stroll on the ocean city boardwalk.... anyway my sister in law at the time bought some popcorn to munch on while we strolled down the boardwalk admiring the veiw..... she was walking behind me with her husband -my brother-.... i heard her laughing and having a good old time as she would throw single pieces of popcorn into the air up above her head and watch the seagulls without fail catch each and every piece of popcorn..this thrilled her very much...well,after about 5 minutes of this she suddenly let out an emotional scream to point of being speechless at the same time my brother took off running toward the ocean all the while looking skyward.... we all stood their looking at each other like what the heck is going on,my sister in law too upset to even tell us...... my brother run as fast as he could to the waters edge ,bent over to pick something up off the sand then turned around grinning ear to ear and walked back up to the boardwalk ..... he placed her wedding band back on her finger and told her to stop feeding the seagulls..... yes,you guessed it,while throwing a piece of popcorn to one of the seagulls her wedding ring flew off and the seagull opted for the gold instead of the popcorn .... my brother knew right away what had happened and chased after the gull until he dropped it at the waters edge..... moral of the story- dont wear gold rings if your gonna throw popcorn to the seagulls......i wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt seen it with my own two eyes........

Found it a second time in the washing machine. My $3,000 Platinum and Diamond ring which was too large for my pinky and too small for my ring finger was thrown from my finger into the washer with my jeans. Looked everywhere for about 15 minutes in a PANIC . The I remembered starting the wash. Whew!
