Polarized Sceen film?

I'm new to the E Trac family but have been detecting for over three years now with other brands of detectors. I have to be honest with you the E Trac screen is one of the hardest to see in daylight That I have ever used. I have a dust cover that a detecting buddy has given me and I have covered the screen only with a clear scratch and glare protecting sheet used for I Pads and such. W/O the dust cover visibility is better. but with the clear faced cover it's back to the same problem, maybe ever worse. They make polarized sheet material for computer and I Pad use. Has anyone tried a product like this to eliminate glare on your E Trac screen?

The problem with polarized lenses is they need to be shaded (colored) to work which would probably reduce glare but make the screen contrast worse.
Never seen a clear polarized lense, in fact i asked my eye doctor one time about clear polarized eyeglasses and he said they don't exist?

But anything is worth a try. If you decide to go with the polarized sheet let us know how it worked out.

I think my clear polycarbonate motorcycle helmet visor is polarized because when I wear my polarized sunglasses under it, I get all colors of the rainbow looking through it.......nge

Far out man!

Could be the combination of the polarized sunglasses and maybe curvatures and/or the material of the visor causing a prizm effect.
Haven't tried polarized sunglasses for viewing the eTRAC screen but i seem to remember reading somewhere but could be wrong, that they can causes a similar rainbow effect. Maybe someone here who tried polarized sunglasses while detecting will comment.

Thinking bright direct sunlight tried at different angles would be best for producing a rainbow effect. A cloudy overcast day might diffuse the sunlight enough where any prism effect might not happen.
Don't know til its tried. I'll dig up my polaroids too and see what happens.

I can't wear my polarized sunglasses when I detect. Lots of moire patterns and crazy colors. It is an ongoing battle for which I wish I had a solution.

Polarized lense 'n rainbows case solved.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
Gonna try to come up with something cool for this glaring problem.

Still can't figure out why those Minelab engineers in bright sunny Oz didn't see the screen glare and poor screen contrast issues?
Or did they? Challenger 'O' rings?

Wish they wooda usd same colors as Explorer II.

There is a control unit protector sold on an internet auction site that is made in the Ukraine. It only costs about 20.00 and was the best thing I found to help with the glare. As it comes from the Ukraine it takes awhile to get, I think it was about two weeks but it's a great product for the money. It's camo by the way for those of us that like that kind of thing.
