polar chart delay

old yank

New member
When using polar chart on my v3i it seems to take a long time to display anything and sometimes it seems to lock up until pulling toggle again. Is this normal?
Also when in deep silver or mixed pro I get continuous noise in the head phones??

What do you mean by a long time........ seconds, minutes? Often, polar plot needs two passes over the target to get enough information to analyze. The continuous noise you hear in deep silver could be caused by many things, The most common is the gain and/or Disc sensitivity is too high for your ground. Have you tried reducing them and if so to what? Do your other programs work OK?

The noise is because the 2 programs are running mixed mode. The noise is the all metal channel.

The Threshold to be exact. If it is too loud, go to the Audio menu and lower it. I keep it just above a faint hum.

polar plot ,sizing and switching the toggle back to hunt from analize or pinpoint seems to take about 1 second to react, but instability wil cause analize to stay blank due to reaction time. im guessing thats just how it works. i also find it hard to analize in trash due to other close signals. right guys?

I would say that is an accurate statement. I don't use the analyze screen anyway because there is no more useful information in analyze than what I can get from the pinpoint screen, IMHO.

The Analyze Screen needs to have a period of time of no targets before and after seeing a target. So wait, thousand one, thousand two before sweeping the target and before re-sweeping the target. Pinpoint the target before analyzing. Off center sweeps can cause anomalous patterns.
Settings that are too hot can cause anomalous patterns or no patterns. Having your settings too hot may cause the analysis graph to trigger on ground. If there is enough noise to be triggering it within that required quiet time, then it cannot trigger to display the signal, or it triggers later and shows the wrong data. . If your noise source has signals that are as large as your deep targets, you will not be able to see a good reading either.
