:poke:Need some buying advice

I'm gonna order an x-terra 70 from kellyco but I'm not sure if I should get some freebies or try to get two coils. And does the stock coil do well with coins, jewelry, and relics? I probably won't do any prospecting at least not in Massachusetts. Any advice would be great.

Most generally the freebies are junk. I would get an extra coil and buy a nice digger and pouch. What I have done is buy the pinpointer for the $14.95 shipping then sell it for about $50.00 to reduce the cost of the detector.

The X-70 is a great choice. The stock coil is OK, but for most of my coin shooting, I use the 10.5" 7.5 kHz DD coil. I really think it is the best all around coil for the 70. It detects deep and pinpoints well. The 6" 18.75 kHz is great in the areas with lots of trash and is very sensitive to small gold jewelry. I highly recommend it also. The last post is 100% correct. Forget the junk extras that come with some detector deals and get the coils. I just got a pair of Detector Pro "Black Widow" headphones and am very pleased with them. They give much clearer signals than the Cal Rad phones that came with my detector. The 70 has a fairly easy learning curve. Once you become used to it, you will make some great finds if you get the coil over the objects you are looking for. Enjoy your new detector !!!

Good hunting, John K

Congrats on the upcoming 70! I am sure you will like it. If you can swing the extra coils go for it. I only have the stock coil and am wanting to get either the 6" DD, or thr 10" DD. I think in the long run one of them will do you more good. Also get a set of good headphones, they make a world of difference. Good luck with the 70, Beale.
