Pocketknives..

Since old man winter has decided to bend us over once again, I figured I'd take a picture of the pocketknives I have found detecting. The 2nd and 3rd ones from the left I have found this year already. The Kamp-King on the far right was a surface find. Enjoy !

Good collection of knives :clapping:

As a kid in my neck of the woods in 40's we played a game with a pocketknife..Every old yard seems to have one...or two...have to admit the ones I find aren't in as good condition as the ones shown..Perhaps they are from a different era...Can't remember the name of the game...

was the game "mumblety-peg"? Where you had to get the knife to stick in the ground by flipping it off your fingers? We did that a lot too...nice knives Dave! Hope your weather clears and you have a successful and long summer ahead of you. HH

Not sure of the spelling but sure brings back a lot of memories and every kid had one even if their parents objected...Wow times have changed...
Main reason lots of knifes of this type show up deeply buried in old yards...Slingshots made out of old maple trees just rotted away or would be a few of them also.....

Cool collection! I've found a few pocket knives over the years while metal detecting.:wiggle: I've lost a few of 'em while metal detecting, too!

Thats awesome Dave.....nice finds.
I found something funny on youtube....type in "jerk tresspassing with metal detector"

There is a 45 second clip of a guy detecting in someones yard when they are there....I was just wondering if it was set up. It made me laugh...the guy was dedicated thats for sure !

I had heard that it was all a set-up. I guess you just never know. That is pretty bold to start digging up someones front yard like that, so I am leaning towards fake.

My first knife was a Barlow and it sold for $1.00 + 3 cents tax. They import them from some other country now, but I don't want any now.
It came out of the box sharp and cut my hand open, what a great product. I did get into trouble for whittling on my Mama's bookcase, tho.
Only God and Mama's know what goes thru a little boy's mind. lol When I asked her why she didn't whip my little rear end, she said boys will be boys and I thank God for a Mama's love and understanding and compassion.
It's not PC to let your kids own a pocket knife nowadays.
