Back to the usual beach, haven't been there for a while, so great to get back there again. Grabbed an Ace 150 just to take a look at the conditions thinking I might go back to the car and get the Sea Hunter and waders later. That didn't happen, which is maybe for the better because if I did return to the comfort zone (i.e. warmth) of the car I probably wouldn't want to get out there again.
Some police were just finishing a sea training exercise and had a TV crew following them around. They sure picked a cold and windy day to do it! (And so did I.) Noticed they had a 4WD near the sea too and thought they would be lucky to reverse that out of there. And sure enough they got stuck in the sand and had to pull it out with one of the trucks. If they asked a 'local' (me :lol ) I would have suggested a better location.
Went to the dry sand first and also tried to visually spot some goodies there. In very strong winds like today there is a very good chance of seeing e.g. coins on the surface as the top layer of sand gets blown away. Saw part of chain and thought it might be connected but wasn't, and eyeballed a few coins too. Dug two junk rings and two silver. Had a little bit of competition (not really) in the form of a Japanese man walking up and down the beach looking (with his eyes) for goodies too. Maybe a real local with local knowledge about those conditions. Good luck to him.
Then over to the wet sand and scored two more silver plus the junk dragon slayer. And lots and lots of trash.
Four more silver keepers today so that makes 151 rings this year. Had a target of 150 by the end of the year, very happy to break that.
Still have to clean some up, but will post a pic of them all (mostly silver) at the end of December.
1,852 yen in coins (about US$15.40)
Stainless steel spoon - good for electrolysis and the ring cleaning. Rings in the pic cleaned that way.
