PlugPopper scammed me out of $75 for a pinpointer

I contacted PlugPopper on ebay (detectorsector82@gmail.com) (allovercreations), about a Garrett AT Pinpointer, the orange one. He asked me to pay friends since he was a member here. I like an idiot did. If someone has his phone number or real contact info can you please let me know? There is another member here that got scammed by him also on a T2. I have the emails and screenshots if anyone wants to seem he has yet to contact me at all and I paid 5 days ago.

Contact PayPal even if you used PayPal Friends and Family and tell them how he is scamming you and the other guy on the T2. They may be able to work something out to get him on fraud.

I called them today and they opened a dispute for me. I also contacted some other sources that will have his actual mailing address. I just find it disgusting people do this. I only have a few posts here, but am very active on %^$#@ and &^%$# and he will be put on blast there

Post this on the Feedback Forum also here on Findmall so other members can be made aware of this guy. (that's what the Feedback Forum is for)

I hope you get your money back and he gets arrested. I hope Karma catches up with this piece of crap.

Unbelievable... Two scams in such a short period of time... talk about greed. I saw the T2 ad soon after it was posted and considered it... I will never use "Family and Friends", unless of-course, they're a family member or a friend.

Family and Friends payment option now has protection like any other Paypal payment.Using the Friends and Family option saves the seller from having to pay those high transaction fees to accept the payment. The sender of the payment pays a fee, but its a fraction of those high fees.

Hope you get your money back!!!!!!!! Anyone know plugpopper? If so call the fbi and say he is buying large amounts of threaded 2'' pipe 6'' long and boxes of end caps -----------------------------------after1--------------------

I don't think 3% is that high of a fee.

I would think that even if you use family and friend Paypal would still take care of you if the seller was dishonest

So, I am pretty thorough when it comes to my livelihood, family, and financial situation. I spoke with a lot of his relatives today, along with 30+ Facebook friends of his, his wife, and every metal detecting page he was on. He just contacted me saying he would make things right and that I ruined his name.

Adam, I'm impressed with your tenacity. Kudos to you, hopefully it will end with you getting the pp or your $ back.

FWIW, I've had dozens and dozens of transactions on this forum, many with paypal friends and family, and never a problem.

When you do an off ebay transaction with an ebay seller with minimal feedback, you are taking a risk and technically trying to game ebay and paypal out of their seller fees. Correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but the impression I'm getting from what I'm reading is that you agreed to an off ebay transaction with an ebay seller's listed item.

My intention was for him to drop the buy it now price, not so much as to bypass Ebay all together. I sell on ebay also and have no problem paying the fees. I was in the wrong though for agreeing to a transaction outside of eBay. I have only bought one machine new and that is my GPX4500, all my other machines I have bought used with a mixture of friends and family and goods and services.

Again, my sincere admiration for your doggedness in going after this deadbeat.

I wasn't passing judgment on you, just saying that when you do the off fleabay thing you increase the risk of getting cheated.

With an ebay transaction through regular Paypal, you do get more protection, and eventually get your money back if the seller doesn't provide proof of shipping. The seller could send you an empty box, but can't just not ship. Plus there is the threat of negative feedback.

I will say that as a rule, I've been much more satisfied with used forum purchases/sales than my few auction site ones.

It is when your selling a $1000-$2500 machine! People scamming other members has costs me a lot of extra 3% when they send me money as "goods and services" even when I specify "friend or family" or add 3%. Most of the time I don't feel like haggling over it but I usually give people very good deals and I'm tired of eating the 3%
