Plow Pile Pastrys, still Piston Poor! :sadwalk:

Ransacking downwind schoolyard snowpiles, chain link fences, edges of parking lots...thats where the paper money most likely is...I'm a bit too early on account of theres still snowpiles...a guy needs them all to melt and be Johnny on the spot when they do....hunt right on top of the asphalt in the trash and dirt!

Eyeballed a cheapo ring, right where one should have been, found a pair of Pillsbury Pastrys I popped in my piehole to placate my pangs! A bit damp, but unopened, so, as is my custom, down the hatch they went!

Pretty poor performance, probably because the winter was so prolific and polar...popped some older Q's, two were quite deep, nearly the depth of my 6" screwdriver shaft...I like wading through the plow pile trash with the 70...lots of 'eye stuff' there to think about what went on in a public parking lot. Who are these people and their possible precious metal proprietary propensities that populate this particular plot?...

Doing a pouch dump and some chores and going back out...this should be a good weekend..overcast and cool..Perfect for plundering piles!

I like that piston Mud, and the ship's wheel! Not sure if I would have chowed down on the parking lot pastries, but who knows. If I was on a good hunt and the stomach was growling, I might consider those the best find of the day!

We don't get enough snow around here for pile melt hunts. I always keep my eyes open to the parking lots though. The other day when I found a a men's gold wedding band, I eyeballed a kids gold colored junk ring complete with purple heart setting. It was next to the truck as I got out to hunt. Maybe it was an omen of the real gold I was about to dig up a few minutes later :detecting:

Good on the snow piles. You always do good with them. I finally discovered on the old fairgrounds up in Mn I hunt when up there where they dump the downtown parking lot snow. About a 75' in diameter area I came up was littered with surface trash and numerous coins. Got enough new coins throughout our two weeks up there for a good bag of Aunt Bell's homemade fudge. And that's a treat in itself. And I thought of you when I realized what the area was. Not kind thoughts, as I am a old coin hunter. Tough to pass up a few bucks in clad, though. HH jim tn

After Armageddon there will be a figure coming through the dust---the sole survivor--with 70 and screw driver in hand.

Mud, those snow piles are holding on up that way for sure. interesting piston

Thanks guys!

Believe it or not, there actually is a strategy to this...you just dont go sweeping random piles all higgledy piggledy..you gotta think where the primary travel pattern to the main entrance got pushed...the area of highest traffic etc...
In the past, I've found two nice big silver chains and one gold ring and also 2 silver washington Q's that were together in an old little pouch that had a brass snap on it buried down 7" in the main snow pile dirt of an old school..that was on Apr 23 of 2011...crappy signal, but deeper than most so I got curious and took a stab..bad blurry pic from my old phone, but you get the idea..[attachment 310513 Qs.jpg]

Snow piles are good practice for getting to know what a rig is saying on account of they are so target heavy. Its a fun warm up too, you learn a lot about people...plus you are never far from the car/coffee...good chance for bills or bling, lighters, pencils, pens, cans, etc...dirty though... I found a teachers ID badge and the keys to the school on a lanyard this afternoon...put it at the Maint guys gate so he can find it.....
