ANyone who has found gold....can you show me what one grain of gold (about 1mm diameter )
looks like? It must be really small and I imagine you have to find alot of grains to make it
worth your while, even in todays market. Can anyone post an image?

Thanks
Robert R

Just looking at a MM on a ruler makes it look VERY small.
This is about what one grain would be? Correct me if I'm off.
Thanks.

Rob; This is a photo of a 1.3 grain Nugget I have glued to a Poker Chip. The other object is a standard .177 BB from a regular Red Rider BB Gun.

I think it also depends on the shape of the gold piece. The 1.3 grain nugget appears smaller than the BB, but I have a .77 grain piece that I found with my LoboST that looks much larger only because it is very flat. Flakes and nuggets of the same weight can appear much different in size, and probably will give a different reading on the VDI. Most gold around here is in very flat flakes or thin wire, with a occasional rather rare larger nugget.
