Please help on Compadre swapping

What is it that I need to do in order to swap coils in Compadre. The connector is already installed but I don't have the extra coil. I don't want to buy an extra coil if it is not going to work since lately I have been dead broke. I don't have any friends with metal detectors close to my area. Thank you for your replies.

Assuming you've had the 5 pin umax connector in stalled, any of the 5 pin umax coils should work. All you need to do is to put it on the detector and hook up the connector. You may or may not have some difficulty with ground balance which is preset at the factory depending on your soil mineralization and the size/type of coil you put on. .

If you can not get another coil, if you can get the mating connector, you could put a connector on the coil that came off the Compadre and use that until you can get the coil you want. I am also making the assumption that BarberBill makes that the right connector was used and the wires connected to the right pins.

That is the way I have it. It is working perfectly but I just want to make sure not to spent that extra money on the search coil if it is not going to work because of internal adjustments. Please reply if you have more comments and thank you.

Yes, another coil will work, maybe very well without ground balance,if your soil/mineral conditions are normal.if i understand, you now have a 5 incher and are able to switch to a 8 or 9 or 10 inch.go for it ,it will go deeper, but might have to turn down sensitivity cause it will detect more area/ground.sam in ms.

OK ... glad to hear that you have it all working. Sorry I misunderstood.

I would not recommend getting another coil until you have enough money for it and to live on. A new coil may not need to have a ground balance adjustment to work well, but it probably would work better if the Compadre were adjusted properly with the new coil.
