Please help identify object

Can you identify this? I have had 2 suggestions. One was that it could be the top of a ladies compact and the other was the front of a Victorian perfume brooch. The grill work is open, so I am not sure that it would work for either of those. The grill sits in the outer ring and there is a ring in the back to hold the grill. I'm sure somebody will also give me a better term to use other than grill. The back half of the object could not be located.

Thanks for looking,
BB

It's a Potpourri lid. Probably pewter. Usually accompanied by a bowl made of wood or ivory that contains dried scented leaves or flowers. Primitive Glade.
