Good day, all. I'm new to the forum, but have been detecting since 1975, when my machine was a BFO White Buccanneer without a discriminator (they weren't available yet).
I found the small anchor button (the one with lines) on the line of battle of the Battle of Jonesboro, GA, south of Atlanta in 1976. What a naval style button was doing there is good discussion. No markings on the reverse.
The larger plain anchor button came from my back yard in Marshfield, Mass, between Boston and Plymouth. The reverse is too encrusted to tell if it ever had markings.
The button with the crest (I cannot quite make out the lettering) appears to have an English? coat of arms. I found that on an old school site in Marshfield. There were Redcoats in the area, within a half mile. They evacuated their troops
shortly before the battle of Concord, else the war may have begun in Marshfield. The back is rotted away entirely.
I think the high relief eagle button is USN Navy from Civil war era, but would like confirmation. The Back says Superior quality.
I will post the photos separately.
Regards,
Dean
