Please explain how the Garrett 2 yr transferable warranty works

From my understanding, if the original owner sends in the warranty card the 2 yr warranty begins on the date of purchase. However, if the detector is sold then the transferable warranty begins on the date of manufacture which is determined from the serial number. So if one bought an AT Pro in June, 2014 that was manufactured in January, 2014, the original owner would have a warranty until June, 2016, but if it was sold, all the following owners would only have a warranty until January 2016. Is this a correct interpretation of how the warranty works?

I'm concerned about this myself. When I sent my At/Pro back last year the lady was saying the warranty was from the day it was manufactured, but I bought it later than that from one of their dealers. Supposed to send it back as I didn't get to do much detecting when the water was down this year and it acted up quite a bit. I think I will give them a call next week and go ahead and send it back. I think they will take care of it and hope you get an answer to your question.

I bought 2 ATs, The GOLD and PRO. I never sent in the warranty card. 6months later I sold the Gold and within 2 month it had a problem with the coil. The guy I sold it to call Garrett and they ran the SERIAL # and that was it. They took care of him, just like he purchased it. My Pro also had problems with the face, and headphone same thing Garrett ask for the serial # and took care of me. I may be wrong but the serial # tells Garrett how old the unit is and if it's within the 2 year warranty.

your warranty does not go from the date of manufacture, it goes from date of purchase when you fill out your registration card or by online, it aske's where and when you bought it, if you do not fill out your warranty card, then they go by the manufacture date, I talked to Garrett to day, my Garrett AT Pro was manufactured June 2013, And I just bought it for Christmas 2014, so If I had not filled out my registration online, I would have had only about 6 months left on my warranty. FILL OUT THAT REGISTRATION CARD,
the warranty will transfer to the new owner to the total of two years.
