Please Beware of civil war munitions!!!!

I just read an article about a man in Chester Virginia that was cleaning a civil war cannonball when it exploded and killed him. Wow that opened my eyes wide. This happend in february according to the article. Its sent a chunk of shrapnel a quarter mile away through the front porch of a home. PLEASE take care with cannon munitions. I wanted to post this to inform. Happy Hunting and be SAFE!!
PLEASE READ!!!!

Even to our "expert" collectors. Too many variables involved to try this yourself, and is your life worth it? I stopped doing this some time ago and let others do it for me. Even done right there continues to be accidents. Remote control, sandbagged area and underwater is the only safe way to avoid death or injury. David@Dixie

In North Carolina the bomb squad will defuse them if its one they are familiar with. If it cant be defused they will explode it or make you register it with your local fire dept, So if you have a fire you are own your own. I know this because a friend had a 60 pounder. The bomb squad said it was impossible to defuse and would explode on any attempt of drilling. He let them explode it and it had a cross shaped mechanism inside with charges pointing in 4 different directions. I say any relic thought to be alive is just not worth the risk. This is one story you hate having to read.
