HELP!!!!! :surrender:

I went out with the GTI1500 and the
12.5 coil for a while. to places Ive had
success at before

The problems were many ....

The coil didnt want to pinpoint or image unless it
was 2 -3 inces OFF the ground it wouldnt pinpoint
like the std coil when i put it on the ground.

Everything showed as size c or e and either 1 in deep or
WAY down 12+

is there that much dfference between the std coil and 12.5?
i put sens to 3 because the machine kept beeping even while
it was on the ground motionless while i dug

Pinpoint SEEMS to be about in the middle to top of the
inner coil..
I know it will take some getting use to the size alone
makes it seem totally different ..

I changed to std coil and went over the same spots ....
got about 83 cents then it began to drizzle ..

am i THAT far off with the new coil?

Im not the mst experienced person for sure but GEEZ..........

I felt like a real newbie even worse than when i 1st
used the ACE..

Thank for any info guys

I feel for you. I'm not all that impressed with the newer high tech
detectors. The Ace series is good enough for me and I might pick up
the AT-PRO soon, although I'm hearing some reports about the
learning curve while in PRO venue.

Keep it simple, I say.

Oh Crap!

While detecting on land, you can't beat the Garrett Imaging technology. TAKE OFF the 12" coil. Use the standard coil at sensitivity = 6 and you will blow any other Garrett detector and most other high-end detectors out of the water, including the all-new AT Pro. Just don't get into a water war with the AT Pro.

the 12 inch coil is more of a " site locator" type coil. If you were trying to cover a large area, quickly, like trying to find an old torn down homesite on a large piece of land, or detecting a large plowed field that did not have many target. That 12.5 coil is very powerful, and very deep, and picks up targets from one end of the coil to the other, so it can get a bit overwhelming if your not using it in the right setting. They are great for walking along long beach areas in the dry sand, where there arent lots of trash. It really covers a big area, real fast.
What exactly are you specifically trying to accomplish by using the larger coil at the area you are at?

I thought it would help me find
some deeper and hopefully OLDER coins
Ill keep learning to use it but ill have the 9 inch
ready on an extra stem...

Heres to a great New Year to all

it will find deep targets but deciphering between target takes some skills. If you take your time, and dont freak out, you can sort it all out.

Yeah the Aces, especially the new 350 will find all you want to dig. The AT is a great machine but it ain't "magic." I like to keep it simple also.
