Been out twice now with the 1270 I aquired, getting to know this beep and dig machine. It beeps loud and clear on clad pretty good so far. I been playing it with sens. at 2 had to lower it down from 3 . The 1270 doesn't know its own strength LOL.and runing the normal disc at 6. It runs ok here in Va ,with factory ground balance, one of the few machines that I have had that could.in this nasty soil here. For a detector without TID etc I'm liking it, it makes digging all that much more fun. I will keep ya posted
i'm tell ya thats a weapon in disguise i think i'm going to aquire one later on again i like the dual disc on it for sure now have you ever had the tejon before?
I just picked up its little brother.... a 1266x yesterday. Never owned a 1270x but always read they were very deep detectors. It's a shame First Texas doesn't bring these great machines back into production again, but not cheapen them up like their newer detectors. The 1200x series is the best stuff
Fisher ever built in my opinion.

I noticed your comment on loud and clear, well I noticed my 1270 is real loud when I hit something close to the surface. I found myself turning down the detector volume to keep what little hearing I have left. In hopes of avoiding ear damage I got hold of Bart at BigBoys and he fixed me up with a set of Gray Ghost Originals, they have a built in high volume limiter. I just got them today, I will let you know how they work out after my next hunt. The 1270 is the only detector I have had that the sound was just to loud on the shallow stuff.
Others out there may have some other fixes for this problem, but I needed new head phones anyway. Shooter what you got? I was out the other day with my old head phones and wind noise just about shout me down at times.
I agree with the comments on the 1266x, I love mine and I think of it as one of the original muscle machines. Now with my other machines the 66 has taken a back seat. I have been thinking of doing something with coils, like I have the 5 x 10 elliptical on the 1270 right now, maybe it may make sense to load the 66 up with either the 3 3/4" or the 5" coil and give it some hunt time.
You have a good point Ron, most super loud noise is large shallow targets, but I leave my phones all the way up and just ADJ the vol. control as stated:
CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS
1. ON / OFF VOLUME: ON /OFF VOLUME:
Allows you turn on the 1270 and adjust the volume to a comfortable level. No need to have a special headphone with volume controls. Turning this
control clockwise adjusts the volume.
I recently got a pair of SUN-RAY PRO Gold's with the limiter build-in on a toggle switch, but I rarely use it, 40 years in the military and my ears aren't that good either, but she'll pull in them real deep soft tone real goooooooood.
Joe, your right about the 1200 series. I have a 1265X, 1270, and a free F75 LTD, and to tell the truth just about everything I have found with the F-75 most likely could have been brought up with the 1270, Got alot more G/ring and jewelry with the 1270, I think that number ID is a big span 25-55 area that you decide 45 i'm not digging it cause the last 20-45's were tabs so I think a lot of people pass "a lot of good stuff " now don't get me wrong the LTD is an awesome machine ID 58 to the 90's she finds the money, mid tones you either dig just about all or don't think of what you might have passed up. on the way to the car got a 45 ID'ed TAB, figured what the hell on my way home 5"s Clifton 1954 H/S 10K ring, so you can never tell.
Forgot to mention I keep volume low on my phones, and on 1270 no higher than three,Raising coi up off the ground to and pinpointing helps alot to on sizing target.I'm finding that 6X probe is helping to runnung it over target area to see if its real shallow..
Just a little up I took the 1270 and the new Gray Ghost head phones to the park today. I was running the detector and head phones wide open, I'm happy, don't think I was missing any sounds.
Recently took my 1270 to a small piece of woods in Orange County, Va. It was part of a Confederate camp. Iron trash was everywhere!. I set it at discrimination 5 and iron discrimination 8. Searched real close and found a North Carolina button . I still don't know what the iron mode is supposed to do-I can only compare it to the 1260,65,66 as a dual discriminator--I see no use yet for the iron mode
Iron mode is to disc. iron out it still picks up everything else, help to eliminate small iron that drive you nuts. (nail. pins small iron) you'll still get horseshoes and larger iron object, but its another way of detecting, I use it all the time when doing old areas , foundation, cellar hole areas in the woods where nail are a big problem and small iron is a pain works great coin-shooting. use the iron mode as the PRIMARY search mode and set it about 8-9 and set the secondary mode to for DISC, set about 5 to keep Nickels in also the on gold (No nickels no Gold). Don't sweep to Fast, 50% overlap on the coil no matter what size it is. hit a target check in disc mode by toggle switch to disc, Sound off DIG IT. It won't get rid of all the IRON but but really helps picking up good older coin that have been masked by iron. Jack sen up as high as you can work( Chatter) I used to the pops and crackles from my 1265X. Hope I helped. LOVEEEEEEEEE the 1270, Awesome real DEEP DEEP SEEKER.
