Playground Gold

Treasure Mike

New member
Went to a sports field to search after work. Some boys were playing soccer there so I decided to try the wood chip area of a playground near by. Found about $1.25 in clad and a house key, when some kids asked me to show them how my MXT worked. I found a penny and they thought that was cool. I then got a loud and strong 28 indicated on the VID meter. I tell the kids that it might be a nickel this time or a pull tab. To my surprise I uncover a 14 K gold wedding band. The kids all want to go out and have their parents buy them metal detectors now. This is the second adult size gold ring I have found in wood chip play areas. The other two were kids size(1.5 to 2 grams)this one weighs 4.7 grams. With the price of gold today at about $700 an ounce that makes this ring worth over $50 scrap gold value. Not bad for an hour evening hunt.
