We went detecting this morning for low tide. Stayed about an hour, then the rain came. I didnt get much, just about 14 cents. Brother got about the same. My dad "normdiver" on this forum, got some change and a ring with his Excaliber. He is too tired to post it so i am. It has no markings, but is very slightly magnetic. Any thoughts? It is pretty heavy. Here is some pics. One compares it to white gold.

There is a new trend in ring fashion... stainless steel... yup that would explain the light magnetics... they even add diamonds on steel! Altough, it's not that modern. I did find a very old ring made of steel. It stayed underwater for decades and came out shiny like new. Taught it was white gold or platinum too :(
Maybe that is what you have.

nature does not run me off

is that like a lizard on that ring?

i know little about platinum, except it is heavy..........i have found some titanium rings, but zero platinum.............but would love to

maybe some of the ring guru's on here will give u some feed back

are we planning an afternoon - evening assault today?

"Yes" it is a lizard. Im not going tonight. My dad is though. He says i slow him down. There are a good amount of targets. Not much trash. Will go tomorrow sometime. Happy Hunting!

It sound like a type of stainless steel ,called MENNEL it has a slight magnetic draw and is shiney like white gold,it puts out a white spark when put on grinder, and is very heavy.

A Platinum Ring can be heatted with a cutting tourch until it is white hot and will not melt, it takes about 6000 deg.to melt.

Couldn't say what it actually is. I have found lots of Platinum. It is always marked with a number 900 or higher and just PLAT. not to be confused with 925 silver.

I have never seen a platinum ring with carvings like that. Platinum is hard to work, can be engraved which really drives up the price of the ring.

I have found many silver rings with lizard/geko carvings.

I found a band similar to that one, cut out with a laser. Mine had two crosses cut through. Jeweler said people like them because they are strong, and light, and look like gold or silver. Pricey... he showed me his catalog, and "suggested retail" was $150 for a decent wedding band!

I found one similar to that last year:

Mine has a Chinese dragon motif, but again, is cut with a laser, as you can see where the beam comes up through on the "bottom" of the ring. It gave me a strong mid-tone signal on my CZ-20 (probably a pulltab). It's not magnetic, is completely unmarked, and is rather light. I want to say mine is Titanium.
