Platinum Ring Tones

unearth

Member
Hello All-
I was detecting at a park today and a guy asked me if I could help in finding his lost wedding band. I told him would try but I had no success today. As I have never found a platinum item before, I was wondering if someone on this forum could give me an insight as to what kind of sound a platinum ring would make. I would assume it would be a low sound. But...you know what happens when you assume something:wacko: I have an E-Trac with stock coil. Any help would be appreciated.

Most Platinum Rings will read below nickel in the 12-01 through 12-12 although larger heavier Platinum rings could read higher. When you look for the ring next time try to get more info from the person as to the size and weight of the ring. If it is a large man's Ring but fairly thin it will read low but if it is a heavy wide band it could easily read above nickel in the pulltab range of of 12-18. Just like gold Platinum can read all over the scale depending in it's size. Hope this helps.
