Platinum ring hallmark help....

Ok, found a great platinum ring at almost 16 grams but it has an S or something that looks like an S right before the PLAT. Anyone have any idea on that hallmark or point me in the right direction. I will try to get a photo up soon. Thanks in advance.

Maybe found the answer to my own question....gotta love the internet.....

I found your question when I was trying to find the answer. I tried different search words and found this answer in a diamond journal:

Plat/S+ is another 950 platinum alloy offered by Hoover & Strong (the remaining ingredients are proprietary). Harder than other traditional platinum alloys, it was developed by the late Steven Kretchmer, who introduced tension-set rings in the USA, under the name SK Platinum.

So it seems it is has just as much platinum as others hallmarked as 950 (or 95% platinum) but the identity of the remaining 5% of the alloy is not given up. I guess people like you and I just really want to know that we are getting our money's worth... right? Hope it helps :)
