This one is from the same trip unstamped--got the kit to test it and sure enough. A clue that they told me at the refinery is that PLAT will scrach white where as white gold will scratch yellow. My jeweler also says to feel for ":double weight". Its about a $700 peice. Pictures getting only slightly better --I'm sorry.

A beauty and informative thanks for posting.

WOW!!! Very nice plat! ring. Congrats!

Great! :clapping:

Yeah, those unstamped plats are tough to ID..especially with the Stainless steel rings and all sorts of amalgams out there...I had a heck of a time with one high quality and inscribed nice unstamped heavy ring last year to determine what it was?... I knew it wasnt white gold, too hard, just not sure about if it was plat, or StainlessSteel..

Of course we've all found plenty of Stainless steel rings, which tone just like a Gold or Plat does, to make it even tougher, they all pass the gold acid tests...but this one just felt "different" so some where or another on the interwebs I found if you heated it up with a propane torch, if it discolored, it was SS, and if it didn't, it was Plat, on account of Plat has a higher melting point than SS or whatever.......some of the jewelers I took it to dont know dink either...Oh, use pliers to hold it when you are heating it up by the way...
Mud.

Goode call on the pliers, Mud--but I'm telling you--double weight. That's a good bit of advice on ID'ing platinum. This one scratched as 18k but the wieght nagged me to add one more acid to my kit.. It's true though some of those stainless rings can be hard to ID. You might try testing them for 22 or 24--there's no such thing as white in those purities.

Hi Clive/All
Very nice platinum, congratulation.
Now for testing, first, try to buy a real lydian stone, this make things much clearer.
Its expensive but for me its a musthave.
What you deff need is stainless steel test fluid, http://www.vandijk-toetsstenen.nl/en/product/acid-stainless-steel/
in combination with all other fluid's, gold from 8 kt to 21,6 or higher and offcourse platinum fluid.
With the stainless fluid, the mark on gold will remain and stainless will disappear, its magic.
In Europe we can't test much platinum because we don't find platinum here.
With 500 + gold rings, the first platinum has stil to come pfffffff
Good luck to you all.

Nice Find!!! I usually let my jeweler sort it all out for me - have had a continuing business with him for years - same day $$$ out the door. Have yet to find a Platinum ring, but the search is on! Nice to see there are actually some out there. Happy Hunting!

Gotta 'fes up, Robert--that's a land find got with my sparkleing new Blue Tubes WOT that OBN made for me. Found it down deep on a V-ball court. Very grateful to him for fixing me up with this detector and it showed its power right away.
