Plastidip on a Pinpointer.

I read in one of the post that coating the tip of the pinpointer with "Plastidip" would lengthen its life. My question to this great option is: "would the Plastidip alter the efficiency of the pinpointer at all by masking or muffling some targets? Thanks for all your input.

personally never saw the need. Maybe some orange tape to help find if you ever lose it in grass or what not.

I have one plastidipped and one not. I have not noticed a difference in performance between the two. I can tell you that the one with plastidip is about two years older than the one without and shows less wear. I have some detecting friends who's PP is worn down to almost nothing. Their thoughts are, I guess, by the time it is worn down that much it is time to get a new one.

Go for the plasti dip if you want...I did mine about two years ago...no change in performance and it does save a little wear and tear. You will have to re dip it once in a while as the coating does wear off. Keep swinging!

Hey Mudpuppy....who did you get to rip the plastic dip off when you finished detecting.
That must have been you out there in the water....all bright orange.
The one I saw that was all black turned out to be a girl surfing. I had to help her unzip the wet suit
as she lost the zipper pull and could not reach around to get to the zipper pull. Ah that was a day!
