plastic stiffener piece?

unearth

Member
Has anybody removed the plastic stiffener in the coil wire where the coil cable connects to the control box? Mine became disconnected from the cable and I reconnected it. But is it something that is necessary? What is the advantage to having it in the cable?
Thanks for your imput.

It makes it easier to get the cable up thru the shaft and detector body to it's connection mate.

If you have more than one coil and want to change the coil quickly this plastic stiffener makes it easier to get the cable thru the shaft, without it the cable will get stuck in the shaft and you will waste lots of time trying to get the cable through to connect it. even when connected leave it in or you may lose it. :starwars:
