plastic screen cover?

I was wondering how many of you use the plastic screen cover and how do you like it? Also if you have did you ever replace it? I was wondering if the adhesive is hard to get off when you do. I am still useing the stock plastic but it has about had it ,and dirt is starting to get under it. I hate to not use one because the screen scratches so easy. And the cover gets to much glare from the sun. I also called minelab and tryed to purchase a stock one
,but they never returned my call. Thank's for all reply's.

The Sun Ray rain cover for the E-trac fits perfectly. Reflection of light from the clear plastic front piece can be a problem, but worth it to protect the entire control housing.

I use one on my E-Trac, have not had to replace it. They are military grade and will not scratch. We use them on our cell phones plus the company is excellent about replacements. My wife has had so much trouble with her cell phone and they have had to be replaced thru warranty and the screen cover company also replaced it free because of the issues with the cell phones.

Hey bcoop, which cover are you talking about? Is it the one that can't be spelled on the forum? If so just say yes. Thank's.

Harold,

Sorry I didn't get back to you quicker. Yes,it is an awesome screen protector, we have used them on our cell phones and I would not use anything else. PM me if you have any questions.

I have a famous cell phone brand military grade screen protector on my E-Trac. It covers the face of the E-trac including the buttons. Works great at protecting the face and buttons from dirty grimey fingers.

It doesn't help when it rains though.

I finally received my plastic screen cover, you know the one I am talking about. I installed it yesterday, Boy you really have to be rite on the money to get it to cover all the button's. Mine is a little off on one side and just covers's my far left diagonal button, maybe a little off but good enough. As long as it cover's the screen that's the main thing. I notice mine is a little over sized though, are they all like this? I trimed it a little with scissors but didn't want to get to close to the housing in fear of scratching it. I hate to complain,But you would think for the money they charge it would fit alot better. Anyway's I can live with it for now.

Same here ! Over sized and hangs off the edges. I have read before that someone used this shield with the rain cover and cut out the center just were the main screen is visable for better protection of the housing from the elements. Has anyone done this?

What I did was put a Sunray control box cover (rain cover) on my unit.---Then I applied a clear sheet of anti glare material on the (outside) cover window.---You can get these anti glare "sheets at Staples stores--I don't have the exact measurements in front of me but they are approximately the same size as the Sunray cover window.---That helps from the glare you get from the cover window but it still isn't the complete answer.----I wish I could find a still better anti glare material but haven't come up with anything as yet.---I had thought of a polarized material applied to the outside of the cover like you get at some specialized camera shops except I'm afraid it would be too dark.-----I'd sure welcome any other ideas.--------Del

I don't know why they can't use the stock one as some sort of templent or pattern. Because the stock one fit's perfect. The only problem with it is not as durable as the one we are talking about,And the adhesive doesn't keep it stuck on for long.

got it trimmed it very good thanks

and yes they could do a better job cutting it for the Trac

The plastic one you can order online it won't spell on this forum,But it starts with a z and ends with two g's if you know what I am saying. It's also used for cell phones. And some lap tops. Oh I almost forgot there is an A in the middle wink, wink.

I think they are referring to the covers that Zagg makes.

Del, that anti-glare solution sounds interesting. I have the Zagg cover and it isn't working for me. I have a cover from a guy on E-Bay coming.

Whomever makes a good, rugged anti-glare rain and dust cover will have my money quick. If I could find the right plastic, I would have someone custom sew the rest.

There always was a problem (over sized) with the shields for the front only, don't know why. But if you ordered the package that included the protection for the sides (which I did), then the front shields in those package were cut correctly and fit perfectly. They however don't offer the package with the side protection anymore. I talked to them several times about the problem with the cut in the front only packages and they never fixed it. All of their stock for the front only shields seem to be cut incorrectly, doesn't make sense that some were cut correctly and some not.
