Plastic Sand Scoops

Has anyone tried the plastic sand scoops that are sold on ebay? Just curious on how durable they are.

You can go to your local feed store and buy that scoop. Then drill 5/8 holes in it and now you have it. Should be half price. I personally like metal mesh scoops.

do not buy a plastic scoop, especially the ones the detector dealers sell for 10 to 20 dollars.they will tear up your hand pretty quick.

I just bought a Plastic scoop at the grocery store, it was in the dog and cat dept and is for scooping wolly-buggers out of the cat box!:twodetecting: I haven't tried it yet but as long as I use it for dry sand and not for digging a big hole in hard-pan, I think it'll be Ok for a while. I once bought a metal flour sifter, tore the guts outta it and replace them with "hardware cloth" just be sure you pick some with holes just small enough that a dime "just" won't fall threw. Happy detecting!

Plastic does have its uses. I use a small plastic gardening scoop from Walmart for a "nugget scoop" when looking for small gold here in the desert. For this, metal would be completely useless. For any other use I think metal would definitely be the best bet.
