Planning to do a little deep silver hunting with Sunray 12.5" Intruder - Any help ?

I've used the Sunray 12.5" Intruder on my Sovereign at the beach and it works great, no problems there.

I want to test it out tomorrow for some deep silver turf hunting. Any advice on using it for turf hunting ? I've been using the 8" Coinsearch coil for turf hunting, but want to hit an area where the Explorer seems to reign supreme and figured the Intruder might give me a little edge on their 10" coils

HH,

To even have a chance to hit as deep as the EX. you better have your sensitivity out of auto .Run her as hot as you can and you will match the EX really close. While hunting with a buddy who has the EX and I had my sov with the S12,he called me over and asked me if I was able to hear a target.I could not hit it at all!!I then set my sen.out of auto and ran it as high as possible and then I was able to hear a faint target. It was a musket ball at about 8 inch's deep in dry ground.Lesson learned!Hope this helps HH

I had to reschedule GGP for tomorrow (too many honey do's today).

Marc I almost never run my Sov in Auto. I run the sens as high as I can without it false'ing , and run with a slight threshold hum, volume maxed out (ultimately adjusted via the headphones) and nothing notched or discriminated out.

I was curious if there was anything unique to the Intruder to keep in mind when turf hunting.

Sounds like you already know what to do.
