You know folks, planning is everything. One of the biggest problems with Kayaking and cleaning the rivers is that with my maneuvering the kayak and also getting in and out to retrieve the trash, I spill a lot of my legal adult beverage. Now that can get a bit expensive and to tell the truth, my little kayak booties get to smelling a bit like legal adult beverage.
I was shopping in Walmart a couple weeks ago and saw what I figured was the answer to my problem. It was a BIG insulated mug! It had a top that sealed and was easy to pop open to take a sip, if I was too hot.
I bought a couple to try out and the only problem I have found with them is the fact that they hold four of these legal adult beverages!
Now that can be a plus or a negative I guess. Our river trips usually take 4 or five hours and six beers is reasonable, considering all the heat and exersation it takes to clean 15 miles of river or so. It has always been perfect.
Now comes the problem. I ain't spilling any now and it is still gone. Go figure! Now the second problem presents itself. Our little coolers hold 6 beers. I get to the river and pour 4 into the mug and head down the river a sipping and a trashing. Now it has been hot and the mug gets empty eventually. I pour the two I have left in the mug and heck, the dang thing is only half full!
Mary has a little cooler too that holds 6 beers and she has only sipped one and a half so there is plenty to fill my mug up, makes sense to do it. The balance just feels better that way! That is what I done today! Now I feel just find at the end of the River run and Mary seems a bit snooty. What is up with that?:b
Walmart has a bigger mug but I figure I better leave it be.
