placer gold finds with the V3i

grouser

New member
I know there is a program to help locate gold bearing ground in the V3i,,, but how is everyone doing finding nuggets ? What would you say is the smallest size to expect the V3i to hit on,,,,match head?

I posted this photo a few days ago. This hollow 14K charm is the smallest gold I have detected with the V3i and it sounded sweet (in an air test) at 4 inches in Multi-Frequency and it still responded with a beep at more than 6 inches in 22.5KHz, with audible threshold changes a few inches beyond that.

I have found small, low conductive metal items half the size of a straight pin at depths of a few inches, so I am sure in certain conditions a match head is not unrealistic. I only wish I had the tiny gold flake that I was given as a child. It would have come in handy now.

that is a cool little find !!!
