Place to go detecting

I've been detecting, off and on, for many years, an so, I really only go to places where the chances of finding older coins is good. However, a couple of months ago I was driving by a temporary probable site, that came and left, really looked good like a great place to find late lost coins, and then because of the temporary-ness, I forgot about it until today. I've never seen anybody detecting at one of these locations cause you gotta have big ones to do it They're always on busy streets. They are almost always on vacant lots with dirt floors or maybe a little saw dust scattered around. This may not be be good everywhere, but in California, you cannot go buy fire works in the store, or in most cities. Only on selected places in the county, usually on "county islands", and then only for a few days before the "4th"
The last day or before closing the stands, they are really crowded, I never see anyone bent over picking up change. In my opinion these should be killer places to find lots of coins. But you gotta be wearing your "biggins" britches. If any one tries this please report back. I don't have any biggin's britches!

I'm in CA too. Yeah I suppose fire-works stands would be a place to hunt for recent change. Also consider country-corner fruit stands type spots. Although I never bother (as I'm strictly an old-coin hunter, not a clad hunter), I have often mused that it would pay to find out where the fruit stands of yesteryear were located, and hunt those corner cross-roads.
