PIONEER 505

Searched local school playground (sand tot lot) with my Pioneer 505, showed up an e track, and was rewarded with an ice cream cone, lol (plastic surface eye find). No, I am not in any way suggesting that the 505 is better than an e track. It was a case of an inexperienced user not knowing how to use his detector. Took me about two hours to cover the tot lot and just as I was loading up to leave this fellow drove up and informed me that I would not find anything as he had already cleaned it out with his e track and made a smart remark about my inferior detector. I informed him I was just leaving and knew I had been searching behind someone but had managed to find some good items. Would he like to see what he had missed? His first comment as I started laying out my finds, including trash, on the tailgate of my truck was that he did not have to dig all that trash and if I had a better detector I would not either. I replied that my detector had discrimination capabilities as well as notch discrimination but I preferred to only use enough discrimination to eliminate small iron such as paper clips, bobby pins and small nails, so as not to miss any small gold items. I was informed that with his e track he could eliminate all the trash items I had been digging and still not miss any gold. I had found a sterling silver chain with two charms and three gold items, a 10K ring, a 10K charm and a 14K earring with pearls. I did not lay them out till last as I keep those type items in a separate plastic container in a different pouch pocket. He refused to believe I had found them where he had already searched and claimed I had brought them with me. I suggested he get his e track out of his truck, set it like he normally does, and see if it would detect all of the items I had found. He had no trouble with the sterling silver chain but could not detect any of the gold items after I had reburied them about two inches deep. After adjusting his discrimination settings he was easily able to pick them up. He then acknowledged that he was wrong about the discrimination capabilities of his e track but had been relying on what he had been told by the large detector distributor in Florida where he bought on line. He had been learning to use it on his own by reading and watching videos. I suggested he check out findmall, as the e track forum would offer a lot of expertise.

Im picking up a 505 tomorrow , can't wait to learn this machine. Nice finds

Holy pencils Batman! :)

I thank you for handling this the way you did.Not all folks would have taken it to kindly the way he spoke about your detector but instead you were kind enough to help him understand his machine better.I seen somewhere where someone said "It's not the machine you use but how you use it" I'm starting to think this way alot myself, again thank you for what you offered to this fellow.

The metal band attaching the eraser to the pencil locks on in the nickel segment and the audio is solid, so I dig a lot of them. The shorter broken ones I throw away, the good ones get donated, along with toys and hair barrettes, to a local group I am associated with who help families with children who are having a difficult time in this economy. My avatar is me assisting Santa distributing toys, clothes, food, fruit and other donated items to these kids and needy families on Christmas Eve.

C E Stricklin the funny thing is he had no clue what he was talking about as there are bounty hunter models out there that are just as good as N etrac if not better and dont cost 1200 dollars to own.

:usmc:

In all of my years detecting, I've never run across someone like that. I have had a rare few people come over and strike up a conversation about what it is I'm doing or you get some who used to detect and want to reminisce but never a My Detector is better than yours. You did a great job though being a gentleman while passing on a learning experience. .

I'm a Pioneer 505 driver myself though I have a White's and two Garrett machines. The 505 is the only "Tone" machine I have and I'm more partial to hunting by sound than Tone but the 505 is simple, lite, has a couple other coil options, and the rascal does an amazing job of detecting. It may not win the Miss America Contest for control box looks but it works and I would not be affraid to run it in and around the High $ units.

You seem like a great guy, Helping others is a rare trait these days. Best wishes to you. I have now accumulated 4 Bounty hunters, trying to sell off the lower end models got the 505, TR4, Quickdraw II, and the quicksilver, I think I have a buyer for the quicksilver today. I love these machines, the TR4 is amazing with it's simplicity, the 505 is new and I'm still trying to learn it but I think those will be the keepers out of the bunch.

I have owned my 505 for about 8 years now and it really suprises me on the targets and depths that I find my targets at.This is a well thought out inexpensive detector. I still use it after buying my more expensive units I prefer it over my Minelab X-terra 70!!!:yikes:

Just checking out the BH forum. I don't have one but the best finds I ever made were years ago with a TR500. Wondering if I should go back to the BH line?

To me it seems like a lot of the technology that most modern detectors try to offer originated in the Bounty Hunter line. They seem to have kept true to their legacy over the years while forging new technology to help simplify the interface, keep weight down and swing balance good.

I tend to keep my old machines when I upgrade, but still regularly use the BH detectors I bought over 10 years ago. Some of the new models give my old detectors a run for their money. They definitely give good bang for the buck.

Trust me. You really can't go wrong with Bounty Hunter metal detectors. Since I started using my Pioneer 505 the past 6 months, I've found more coins and other things then I ever found with my other 2 metal detectors combined. BH detectors offers leading edge technology at an affordable price.

Oh the 505 will find goodies here are just a few to show you that I have dug up with mine ,,,

Nice finds Leonard.

Thank You Sir , Calling it all most quit`s here up dated to a A T Pro got out with it a few time`s but im never turning my back on my 505 , I learned with it , found a lot of nice thing`s with it , hoping that this A T Pro pan`s out for me , only was out 3 time`s with it and got a total of 36.00 in clad a few wheat`s and a gold chain in a ball park I hunted heavy with my 505 , but again I say my back will never turn on it , Happy Hunting to You ,,,,,,

My only complaint about Bounty Hunter is that they
look like krap. But they do find some good stuff as most
detectors will. Can't judge a book by it's cover. My ex
looked like krap and she turned out ok. Course we're not
together anymore. :)-)
Keep up the good work.
